Works on Paper
My studio is in a park, a kind of urban nature which is at times wild woodland then garden. Increasingly I am looking no further than this complex world. Consequently there is a ‘classicism’ or ‘formalism’ in the work which is a kind of clarity. It is this perception that I am choosing to work with and where it leads to in form. This in itself is at times barely perceptible.
I use drawing as a parallel process of making and have practiced drawing from 1977 until the present which naturally includes thematic variation. Within that process there is a kind of distillation which can be described as abstraction, referencing, broadly speaking, constructivism and minimalism.
